Execution order
1. Start the engine with the steering wheel set to the straight-ahead position. With the front wheels set to straight-ahead, measure the effort required to turn the steering wheel to the left and right.
Force: 5 N
2. Set the front wheels to move straight ahead, gently turn the steering wheel left and right until you feel a noticeable resistance, and measure the steering gear play. Measure the play along the outside diameter of the steering wheel.
Steering wheel play: 0–30 mm
3. If the play exceeds the permissible value, then the steering shaft universal joints or steering gear are worn out.
