Order of execution
1. Install the universal joint on the steering gear shaft.
Warning! If the steering column is equipped with a tilt adjustment mechanism, follow these conditions.
Warning! Failure to do so may cause the tilt bracket to deform, resulting in damage to the tilt arm and arm lock.
2. Before installing, check that the bracket has a hole for the stud.
- 1) If so, lock the tilt lever in the neutral position and install the stud stopper into the hole, then disengage the tilt lever.
- 2) Otherwise, secure the tilt lever near the neutral position.
3. Screw in the bolt that secures the U-shaped element of the universal joint to the steering shaft.
Tightening torque: 15–20 Nm
4. Temporarily screw in the two mounting bolts.
5. Screw in two mounting nuts.
Tightening torque: 13–18 Nm
6. Torque tighten these two mounting bolts.
7. If the stud stopper is installed, move the steering column to the down position.
