Execution order
1. Install the universal joint onto the steering gear shaft.
Warning: If the steering column is equipped with a tilt adjustment mechanism, observe the following conditions.
Warning: Failure to follow these instructions may result in deformation of the tilt bracket, which may result in damage to the tilt arm and arm lock.
2. Before installation, check that the bracket has a hole for the stud.
- 1) If so, secure the bevel lever in the neutral position and install the pin stopper into the hole, then release the bevel lever.
- 2) Otherwise, secure the tilt angle lever near the neutral position.

3. Screw in the bolt that secures the U-shaped element of the universal joint to the steering shaft.
Tightening torque: 15–20 Nm
4. Temporarily tighten two mounting bolts.
5. Screw in two mounting nuts.
Tightening torque: 13–18 Nm
6. Tighten these two mounting bolts to the specified torque.
7. If the stud stop is installed, move the steering column to the lower position.
