2. Automatic transmission - remove the flange.
3. Install the engine on a special stand for disassembly.
4. Remove the drive belt.
5. Remove the cylinder head.
6. Remove dipstick (A).
7. Remove knock sensor (A).
8. Remove the oil pressure sensor (A).
9. Remove the water pump.
10. Remove crankcase (A).
11. Remove two bolts (WITH) and remove the oil pan (A) with gasket (IN).
12. Check the axial clearances of the connecting rods (see section «Checking the technical condition» in the cylinder block of the G6BA engine).
13. Remove the connecting rod caps and check the clearance between the crankshaft journals and the bearings (see section «Checking the technical condition» in the cylinder block of the G6BA engine).
14. Use a scraper to clean the top of the piston from carbon deposits. Push the piston assembly with the connecting rod out of the cylinder through the top.
Note:
- Do not dismantle the connecting rod, connecting rod cap and connecting rod bearings.
- Lay out the removed pistons with connecting rods in the order corresponding to the cylinder numbers for correct installation in the future.
15. Remove the front housing.
16. Remove 5 bolts (IN) and remove the rear seal housing.
17. Remove the main bearing caps and check the clearance between the crankshaft main journals and the liners (see section «Checking the technical condition» in the cylinder block of the G6BA engine).
18. Check the axial clearance of the crankshaft (see section «Checking the technical condition» in the cylinder block of the G6BA engine).
19. Carefully, so as not to damage the main journals, remove the crankshaft (A) from the cylinder block.
Note. Position the main and thrust bearing shells in the correct order for installation.
20. Check the suitability of the piston pin. To do this, try to move the piston relative to the finger. If relative movement is possible, it is necessary to replace the piston pin and piston as a set.
21. Using a special puller, remove the two compression rings. Remove the discs and oil ring expander by hand.
Note. Arrange the piston rings strictly in the order corresponding to the cylinder numbers.
22. Disconnect the piston from the connecting rod.
