Water pump for 2.0/1.8L engines

Removal
1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Drain the coolant into a suitable container and disconnect the hose from the water pump coolant inlet fitting.
2. Remove the poly V-belt and water pump pulley.
3. Remove the timing belt covers and timing belt tension roller.
4. Remove the water pump mounting bolts, then remove the generator support.
5. Remove the water pump from the cylinder block.
Examination

1. Check each part for cracks, damage or wear and replace the pump assembly if necessary.
2. Turn the water pump shaft and check for smooth rotation and no noise.
3. Check for coolant leaks from the pump. If there is a leak from port C, the pump seal is faulty. Replace the water pump if necessary.
Installation
1. Clean the water pump sealing surface from gasket residue and foreign material.

2. Install a new gasket on the water pump, install the pump and secure it with bolts. Tightening torque: 20–27 Nm.
3. Install the timing belt tension roller and adjust the belt tension.
4. Install the timing belt covers.
5. Install the water pump pulley and poly V-belt, then adjust the belt tension.
6. Fill the cooling system with the required amount of coolant.
7. Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery. Start the engine and check for leaks in the cooling system.
