Removal
1. Drain the coolant to a level below the thermostat.
2. Remove the coolant inlet fitting and gasket.
3. Remove the thermostat.

4. Hang the thermostat on a thread in a transparent container with water. Insert a thermometer into the water, heat the container with water and observe the thermostat valve. Determine the temperature at which the thermostat valve begins to open and when it is fully opened.
Petrol engines:
- Thermostat valve opening temperature: 82°C.
- Full opening temperature of the thermostat valve: 95°C.
Diesel engines:
- Thermostat valve opening start temperature: 83.5–86.5°C.
- Full opening temperature of the thermostat valve: 100°C.
Installation

1. Install the thermostat so that the air bleed valve is correctly positioned in the socket. If the thermostat is installed in the wrong position, its functionality may be impaired.
2. Install a new gasket and coolant inlet fitting. Tightening torque: 20–25 Nm.
3. Fill the cooling system with the required amount of coolant. Start the engine and check for leaks in the cooling system.
Coolant temperature sensor tightening torque: 20–40 Nm.
