Thermostat: 1 - air release valve; 2 - main valve; 3 - bypass valve
Removal and inspection
1. Drain the coolant to a level below the thermostat.
2. Remove the coolant outlet fitting and gasket.
3. Remove the thermostat.
4. Hang the thermostat on a thread in a transparent vessel with water. Insert a thermometer into the water, heat the vessel with water and observe the thermostat valve. Determine the temperature of the beginning of opening and full opening of the thermostat valve.

- Thermostat valve opening temperature: 82°C.
- Full opening temperature of the thermostat valve: 95°C.
- Thermostat valve stroke: 8.5 mm
Coolant temperature sensor
1. Place the sensor in hot coolant.
2. Check the resistance of the coolant temperature sensor.

Sensor resistance:
- at 60°C: 123.8–172.8 0m
- at 115°C: 23.5–29.5 Ohm
Installation
1. Install the thermostat so that the air bleed valve is correctly positioned in the socket. If the thermostat is installed in the wrong position, the base of the thermostat will touch the fin in the intake manifold, which will impair its operation.
2. Install a new gasket and coolant drain pipe.
3. Fill the cooling system with the required amount of the required coolant. Start the engine and check for leaks from the cooling system.
