Radiator cap: 1 - inlet valve; 2 - exhaust valve
Examination
1. Remove all debris from the Hyundai Getz radiator cap valve and valve seat.
2. Attach the radiator cap to the radiator cap tester.
3. Pressurize 81.4 kPa.
4. After 10 seconds, check the pressure, which should not change. If necessary, replace the radiator cap.
Pressure Radiator Cap Check
1. Remove the radiator cap, moisten the cap gasket with coolant, and attach the radiator cap to the tester.
2. Increase the pressure until the pressure gauge needle stops deviating.
Rated opening pressure of the main valve:
- vehicles with 1.1 and 1.3 liter engines: 78–108 kPa
- vehicles with 1.5 and 1.6 liter engines: 83–110 kPa
3. Verify that the valve opens and closes within the specified limits.
4. Replace the radiator cap if the valve opens and closes outside the specified limits.
Note. Before checking, make sure that the cover is clean and free of rust and foreign matter that could interfere with its operation.
