Order of execution
1. Remove the radiator cap.
2. Make sure the coolant level reaches the filler neck.
3. Install a radiator cap tester to the filler neck and pressurize the cooling system. Make sure that the pressure in the cooling system is maintained for 2 minutes.
Pressure when checking the tightness of the cooling system:
- Petrol engines: 140 kPa
- Diesel engines: 150 kPa
- 1. Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot, as escaping vapors can cause severe burns. Close the radiator cap with a thick rag and slowly unscrew the cap until the escaping steam hisses. After the steam stops escaping, slowly unscrew and remove the cap from the radiator.
- 2. Make sure the tested areas are free of moisture.
- 3. When the tester is removed, be careful not to spill coolant from the tester.
- 4. Be careful when installing and moving the unit and do not damage the radiator filler when checking.
4. If not, locate the leak and fix it.
