Oil condition
1. The oil must not contain moisture, dust, metal particles, etc.
2. Do not mix oils of different types.
3. The moisture content of the oil increases if it is left exposed to air for a long time. After using the oil, the oil container must be sealed immediately.
Oil return to compressor
Check the oil level and when the engine is idling for 20-30 minutes with the air conditioning system running at maximum cooling and maximum fan speed, the oil should return to the compressor.
Checking the level and adding oil
Before adding oil to the A/C compressor, check the compressor oil as follows.
1. Perform the oil return to compressor operation, then discharge the air conditioning system from the refrigerant and remove the compressor from the vehicle.
2. Drain the oil from the compressor outlet.
Attention! If the compressor is cold, it may be difficult to drain the oil. To drain the oil, heat the compressor to a temperature of 40-50°C.
3. Measure the amount of leaked oil. If less than 70 cm3 of oil leaked out, then there is a small oil leak. Check air conditioning system connections for leaks and repair or replace damaged parts.
4. Check the condition of the oil and fill the compressor with oil in the following order.
- a. If the oil is clean.
Drained oil volume | filling |
More than 70 cm3 | The oil level is normal. Add an amount of oil equal to the amount of leaked oil. |
Less than 70 cm3 | The oil level is low. Add 70 cm3 of oil. |
- b. If the oil is contaminated with metal particles or other materials, clean the receiver dryer before charging refrigerant into the air conditioning system.
