Remove the protective covers from the rack housing.

Check the rotation torque using a torque wrench (1), rotate the rack and pinion steering gear within one revolution for 4-6 seconds.

Nominal value 0.6-1.3 Nm.
Measure the pinion rotation torque at full steering rack travel.
If the measured value does not correspond to the standard value, adjust the pressure of the rack stop cover and then check the rotation torque of the pinion gear again.
If the amount of torque cannot be adjusted, disassemble or replace the steering gear assembly.
Disassembly
Perform operations I through XII in sequence.

Assembly
When assembling the steering gear, consider the following:
Adjust the torque of the pinion gear by securing the steering gear in a vice.
With the rack in the center position, tighten the rack stop cover.
In the neutral position, turn the pinion with a torque wrench (1) clockwise one revolution in 4-6 seconds. Unscrew the rack stop cover by 30-60° and adjust the scrolling moment to the nominal value.

Using a torque wrench, rotate the gear one revolution in 4-6 seconds and check the torque value, which should be 0.6-1.3 Nm.
After completing the adjustment, tighten the rack stop cover lock nut.
Fill the inner cavity of the protective cover with grease and lubricate the sealing edge of the protective cover with sealant. Using the special tool (1), install the protective boot onto the ball joint pin of the tie rod end.
