Check crank torque with a torque wrench (1), rotate the rack and pinion steering gear within one revolution within 4 to 6 seconds.
Nominal value 0.6-1.3 Nm.
Measure the gear turning torque with the steering rack at full travel.
If the measured value does not correspond to the nominal value, adjust the pressure of the rack stop cover and then check the torque of the drive gear scrolling again.
If the roll torque cannot be adjusted, disassemble or replace the steering assembly.
Disassembly
Perform steps I through XII in sequence.
Assembly
When assembling the steering gear, consider the following:
Adjust the moment of scrolling the drive gear, for which fix the steering gear in a vise.
With the rack in the center position, tighten the rack stop cover.
In neutral position, turn the gear with a torque wrench (1) clockwise one revolution in 4-6 seconds. Unscrew the rail stop cover by 30-60°and adjust the scrolling torque to the nominal value.
Using a torque wrench, rotate the gear one revolution in 4-6 seconds and check the amount of scrolling torque, which should be 0.6-1.3 Nm.
After completing the adjustment, tighten the locknut of the rail stop cover.
Fill the inner cavity of the protective boot with grease and lubricate the sealing lip of the protective boot with sealant. Using a special tool (1), install the protective boot on the ball joint pin of the tie rod end.
