Remove the engine air intake hose assembly (Fig. 5.28).

Disconnect the clamps of the pressure and return hoses of the power steering system.

Drain the working fluid from the power steering system.

Disconnect the pressure and return pipes from the steering gear fittings.

Disconnect the steering cardan shaft from the steering gear inside the passenger compartment (Fig. 5.29).

Remove the band clamp and push out the steering shaft boot, then remove the boot support plate.

Raise the car's wheels.

Remove the front wheels.

Remove the cotter pin, unscrew the fastening nut and disconnect the ball joint of the steering rod end from the steering knuckle using a special tool (09568-31000) (Fig. 5.30).

Remove the right anti-roll bar mounting bracket (Fig. 5.31).

Remove the front muffler assembly (Fig. 5.32).

Remove the steering gear mounting brackets and the pressure and return pipe clamps (Fig. 5.33).

Remove the steering gear assembly through the right front wheel arch (Fig. 5.34).

Note: Remove the steering gear slowly and very carefully to avoid damaging the protective boots on the tie rod ends and the ball joints of the tie rod ends.
