2. Pull the hub out of the knuckle by rotating the special tool.
Warnings:
- 1) Use only the special tool.
- 2) If the hub and steering knuckle are separated with a hammer, the bearing will be damaged.
3. Clamp a rotary fist in a vise.
4. Remove the brake dyke from the hub.
5. Remove the outer bearing inner race from the hub using the special tool.
6. Remove from. knuckle collar and the inner ring of the inner bearing.
7. Remove the bearing outer races from the steering knuckle using a special tool (09517-21400).
Warning. If the inner or outer ring of a bearing needs to be replaced, they must be replaced both as a set.
8. Apply multi-purpose grease specified in the specification; on the outer surface of the bearing outer ring.
- Recommended Lube - SAE J310A, NLGIN 2 Multipurpose Grease
9. Install the bearing outer race onto the steering knuckle using the special tool.
10. Install the disc on the hub and tighten it to the required torque (50-60 Nm), specified in the specification.
11. Apply multi-purpose grease to the bearings and the inside of the hub.
12. Place the outer bearing inner race on the steering knuckle.
13. Establish a cuff from nave on a rotary fist by means of a special tool.
14. Apply multi-purpose grease, specified in the specification, to the edges of the collar and to the surfaces of the collar that contact the hub.
- Recommended Lube - SAE J310A NLGI No. 2 Multipurpose Grease
15. Place the inner bearing on the knuckle.
16. Tighten the hub to the steering knuckle with a torque of 230 Nm using a special tool.
17. Rotate the hub to seat the bearing in place.
18. Measure the starting torque at which the wheel bearing begins to rotate.
- Starting torque of the hub bearing - 1.3 Nm (13 kgf cm) or less
19. If the starting torque at which the hub bearing begins to rotate is 0 Nm, measure the axial play of the hub bearing.
20. If the axial play of the hub bearing exceeds the limit when tightening the hub nut with a torque of 230 Nm, the bearings, hub and steering knuckle are not properly assembled. Repeat disassembly and assembly.
- Axial wheel bearing play (limit) — 0.11 mm or less
21. Remove the special tool.
22. Apply multi-purpose grease, specified in the specification, to the bearing and the inside of the steering knuckle.
- Recommended Lube - SAE J310A NLGI No. 2 Multipurpose Grease
23. Use the special tool to install the cuff from the side of the input shaft on the steering knuckle before it begins to touch the outer ring of the bearing.
24. Apply multi-purpose grease to the edges of the collar.
25. Tighten parts to specification.
Installation
1. Lower the vehicle to the floor and tighten the bolt connecting the steering knuckle and lower arm ball joint.
2. Tighten parts to specification.
