Front wheel hub and steering knuckle.
1 - upper front suspension arm, 2 - brake disc, 3 - front wheel hub, 4 - steering knuckle, 5 - lower ball joint, 6 - brake caliper, 7 - tie rod end, 8 - bearing, 9 - retaining ring, 10 - drive shaft.
Withdrawal
1. Jack up the car, remove the bolts and remove the front wheel.
- Tightening torque: 90-110 Nm
2. Remove the wheel speed sensor (see chapter "Brake system").
3. Disconnect the brake hose from the steering knuckle.
4. Remove the drive shaft locknut.
- A) Remove the cotter pin and remove the locknut cap.
- b) Loosen the lock nut
- Tightening torque: 200-260 Nm
5. Turn away two bolts and disconnect the bottom spherical support from a rotary fist.
- Tightening torque: 100-120 Nm
6. Lightly tap with a plastic-headed hammer to disengage the drive shaft from the wheel hub.
7. Turn away a bolt and having disconnected a support of the brake mechanism from a rotary fist, suspend it on a wire.
- Tightening torque: 69-85 Nm
8. Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
- A) Remove the cotter pin and unscrew the nut.
- Tightening torque: 24-34 Nm
- b) Using a puller, disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.
Note: Be careful not to damage the tie rod end boot.
9. Loosen the front suspension upper arm nut.
- Tightening torque: 35-45 Nm
Note: do not unscrew the nut completely.
10. Using the special tool, disconnect the top lever from a rotary fist.
11. Remove a rotary fist in gathering with a nave and a brake disk.
Disassembly
1. Remove the brake disc from the hub.
2. Remove the retaining ring.
3. Using the special tool, disconnect a nave from a rotary fist.
4. Using the special tool, remove the bearing inner race from the hub.
5. Using the special tool, remove the bearing outer race from the hub.
Examination
1. Check the hub for cracks and scratches.
2. Check the circlip for damage.
3. Make sure there are no burrs or damage on the inner surface of the steering knuckle.
Assembly
1. Apply special grease to the mating surfaces of the steering knuckle and bearing.
2. Using the special tool, press the bearing into the steering knuckle.
Note:
- Use a new bearing.
- To avoid damage, do not press in the bearing inner race.
3. Establish a lock ring in a rotary fist.
4. Using the special tool, press the hub into the steering knuckle.
Note: be careful not to damage the bearing.
5. Using the special tool, press the hub into the steering knuckle.
6. Rotate the hub to properly install the bearing.
7. Having fixed the steering knuckle assembly with the hub in a vice, measure the moment of the bearing pulling away.
- Breakaway torque: 1.8 Nm or less
8. Using a dial gauge, measure the hub runout.
- Hub runout: 0.008mm or less
9. Remove the special tool from the hub.
10. Install the brake disc on the hub.
Installation
Installation of the front wheel hub and steering knuckle is carried out in the reverse order of removal, the tightening torques of the bolts and nuts are indicated in the text of the description of the removal procedure and in the assembly drawing "Front wheel hub and steering knuckle".
