Disassembly
1. Remove the piston retaining ring.
2. Pull out the rod with the piston assembly.
3. Remove the clamp from the tank, the tank lid and the tank.
Note: Do not disassemble the piston.
Examination
1. Check for rust and scoring on the inner surface of the cylinder.
2. Check the piston for wear and deformation.
3. Check the piston and rod for rust and scoring.
4. Check the hydraulic line for blockage.
5. Measure the inner diameter of the master cylinder with an indicator and the piston diameter with a micrometer.
Note: The measurement of the inner diameter of the master cylinder should be carried out in three sections (bottom, middle and top) in two perpendicular directions.
Assembly
1. Apply DOT3 brake fluid to the inner surface of the cylinder and the outer surface of the piston assembly.
2. Install the piston assembly.
3. Install the rod.
4. Install the reservoir on the master cylinder body.
