Oil pump — disassembly, inspection and assembly (Hyundai Accent X3)

Disassembly and inspection

1. Remove the sealing rings from the oil pump housing.

2. Unscrew the five bolts and remove the shaft support from the housing.

3. Remove the oil pump housing from the torque converter.



4. After marking the driving and driven gears of the oil pump for subsequent assembly, remove them.

5. Remove the steel ball from the housing.

6. Remove the snap ring and oil seal from the oil pump drive gear.

7. Measure the end clearance of the oil pump gears. If it exceeds the normal value or if inspection of the surface of the oil pump body that contacts the pump gears shows damage, replace the oil pump. Normal value: 0.02-0.48 mm



8. Inspect the surface of the shaft support that contacts the gears of the oil pump. If there is damage, replace the oil pump.

9. Check the rotation of the oil pump drive gear.

Assembly

1. Assembly is carried out in the reverse order of disassembly.
