Replacing the working brake cylinder (Hyundai Elantra XD)

Procedure



1. Remove the brake pads.

2. Disconnect the brake pipe.

3. Unscrew the bolts and remove the wheel cylinder.


3. Unscrew the bolts and remove the wheel cylinder.

4. Remove the dust boots from the wheel cylinder.

5. Remove the piston.

6. Remove the return spring.


6. Remove the return spring.

7. Before assembling the working brake cylinder, check the condition of the following parts:
  • cylinder and piston for wear, damage and rust;
  • the body of the working brake cylinder for damage and cracks;
  • the contact surface of the piston and brake pads for wear;
  • piston for absence of internal porosity.

8. Assembly is carried out in the reverse order of disassembly.

  • 1. Before assembly, clean the wheel cylinder with isopropyl alcohol.
  • 2. Before assembly, lubricate the piston and cylinder with brake fluid.
  • 3. When assembling, it is necessary to use new cuffs and dust covers.


Warning: Be careful not to lose the steel ball of the drain valve.
