Withdrawal
1. Remove the wheel.
2. Turn away a nut of fastening of the bearing of a back wheel and remove a nave with a brake drum.
3. Remove the lower return spring, clip and brake shoe support spring.
4. Remove brake shoes together with a regulator.
Examination
1. Measure the inside diameter of the brake drum. Use a dial indicator to check the runout of the brake drum. Replace the brake drum if the inner diameter of the drum exceeds the limit.
- Nominal diameter: 203.2 mm
- Maximum Diameter: 205.2mm
- Brake drum runout: 0.05mm
2. Measure the thickness of the rear brake pads. Replace all brake pads on one axle of the vehicle, even if only one pad is under the thickness limit.
- Brake lining thickness: 4.5 mm
- Minimum allowable thickness of brake pads: 1.0 mm
3. Check up uniformity of a prileganiye of a brake pad to a brake drum.
4. Examine working brake cylinders on absence of leaks of a brake liquid.
5. Inspect the brake shield for wear or damage.
Installation
1. Lubricate the following brake pad contact points with grease:
- points of contact of brake pads with the brake shield;
- contact points of the brake pads with the base plate.
Recommended lubricant: SAE J310, NLGI #2.
2. Install the brake shoe support post.
3. Install the return springs on the brake shoes.
4. After installing the brake drum, tighten the parking brake lever several times.
