Bleeding the hydraulic drive (Hyundai Elantra J2)

In each case, after removing the hydraulic lines or the clutch master cylinder, or if the clutch pedal fails, bleed the clutch hydraulic system.

Warning. Use the fluid specified in the specification. Avoid mixing different liquids.


Fluid specification - SAE J1703 (DOT 3)

1. Loosen the bleed screw on the clutch slave cylinder.

2. Slowly press the clutch pedal until air bubbles stop escaping.

3. Keep the pedal depressed while tightening the bleed screw.

4. Top up the master cylinder with the fluid specified in the specification.

Warning. When bleeding the clutch hydraulic drive, press the clutch pedal repeatedly in zone B-C (see picture) may result in the piston being forced out of the working cylinder housing. Press the clutch pedal again only after it has fully returned to position A.
