Clutch pedal adjustments (Hyundai Elantra J2)

0
1. Measure the height of the clutch pedal (from the top surface of the pedal pad to the floor of the passenger compartment) and free play of the pedal around the roller (measured at the top surface of the pedal pad).

Standard value
  • (A) - 190.1 mm
  • (B) - 1-3 mm

(B) - 1-3 mm

2. If any of these two dimensions is not within the standard value, adjust it as follows:

1) Turn and adjust the bolt until the pedal height matches the standard value, and fix this position of the bolt with the lock nut.

Note: If the pedal height is lower than the standard value, loosen the bolt and then turn it to adjust. After adjustment, tighten the bolt until it hits the stopper, then tighten the lock nut.

Note: If the pedal height is lower than…

2) Turn the pusher to make it convenient to move according to the position of the bolt, and fix the pusher with the lock nut.

Warning. When adjusting the height, clutch pedal and pedal free play around the pin, be careful not to push the pushrod toward the master cylinder.

3. After completing the adjustment, make sure that the clutch pedal has free play (measured at the top surface of the pedal pad) and the distance from the top surface of the clutch pedal pad to the floor of the passenger compartment (with the pedal pressed) correspond to standard values:

Standard value
  • (C) - 6-13 mm
  • (D) — 90 mm

(D) — 90 mm

4. If the free travel of the clutch pedal and the distance from the upper surface of the clutch pedal pad to the floor of the passenger compartment (with the pedal pressed) do not correspond to standard values, this means the presence of air in the clutch hydraulic lines, or a malfunction of the master cylinder or clutch. Bleed the hydraulic drive, disassemble and check the master cylinder and clutch.
