Bleeding the clutch release drive (Hyundai Sonata EF)

Bleeding the clutch release drive is carried out if the tubes, hoses of the drive were disconnected or the master cylinder of the clutch release drive was removed, or if there is a suspicion of air in the clutch release drive (with a "soft" clutch pedal).

Caution: Brake fluid is used to release the clutch. Do not mix it with other fluids.

  • Working fluid type: brake fluid SAE J 1703 (DOT3)

1. Loosen the bleed nipple on the clutch release drive slave cylinder body.

2. Slowly pump the clutch pedal until air bubbles stop escaping.

3. While keeping the clutch pedal depressed, tighten the bleed screw.

4. Fill the tank with working fluid.

Caution: Rapid pumping of the clutch pedal in the range "B" - "C" may cause the piston of the working cylinder to be displaced from the body of the working cylinder of the clutch release drive during bleeding. Press the clutch pedal again only after it has fully returned to position "A".
