Checking the Power Steering Belt Tension (Hyundai Elantra J2)

1. Press the V-belt at the specified location with a force of 98 N and measure the amount of deflection. Compare it with the standard value.



V-belt deflection (standard value) — 7-10 mm

To adjust the belt tension, loosen the power steering pump mounting bolts, move the pump and retighten the bolts.

Warning. After adjusting the tension, start the engine and immediately turn it off, then check the tension again.
