Engine shutdown (Hyundai Elantra XD)

The diesel engine operates on the principle of self-ignition of fuel, so it can only be turned off by cutting off the fuel supply. With Electronic Diesel Control (EDC), the ECU shuts down the engine using a "zero fuel injection" mode.
