Before installing the engine on the stand, remove the gearbox from it.
If you do not have a stand, you can disassemble the engine by fixing it on the floor or foot. Be extremely careful not to drop the engine when handling it without a stand.
If you intend to purchase a remanufactured engine, you must first remove all external components in order to transfer them to the purchased engine, in the same way as if they were installed on an engine that you decided to rebuild yourself.
Attention: When removing external components from the engine, pay close attention to all parts that may be useful during installation. Note the position of all gaskets, seals, bushings, studs, brackets, washers, bolts and other small parts.
If you are planning a complete overhaul, then the engine must be disassembled and the internal components removed in the following order:
- all hoses, wires, fuel lines, sensors and thermostat;
- receiver and elements of the fuel injection system;
- distributor (if there);
- ignition coil;
- alternator belt and alternator itself;
- generator drive pulley;
- front timing belt covers;
- tensioner/roller;
- bypass roller;
- toothed belt;
- gear wheels of camshafts and crankshafts;
- back cover of a toothed belt;
- coolant pump;
- intake and exhaust manifolds;
- upper cylinder head cover;
- cylinder head (complete);
- oil sump, oil receiver;
- oil pump;
- connecting rod covers;
- pistons with connecting rods;
- flywheel;
- crankshaft rear oil seal housing;
- crankshaft main bearing caps;
- crankshaft;
- inserts / thrust half rings.
