Removal
Remove the luggage compartment trim.
Loosen the wheel nuts on the vehicle while it is parked on the ground.
Mark the position of the wheel rim relative to the hub with paint.
Place the rear of the car on jack stands and remove the rear wheels.
Place a jack under the middle of the torsion beam and lift it until you see that the shock absorbers have expanded, i.e. the suspension is not under load.
Remove the cap (1).
Unscrew the upper mounting nuts (2).

After unscrewing the nut (5), remove the lower bolt (3).
Remove the shock absorber strut (4).
Installation
Install the assembled spring strut and tighten it lightly. Install only new self-locking nuts.
Tighten both top nuts and replace the cap.
Place the wheel according to the marks made. Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts diagonally
Tighten the lower mounting nut.
Install the luggage compartment trim if removed.
Check the rear wheel alignment angles.
Shock absorber strut - disassembly and assembly
Disassembly
Remove the rear spring strut.
To remove the shock absorber, you must first compress the spring.
Compress the spring with a compression tool. Insert the rear spring strut into the fixture, slowly and evenly compress the spring until the upper spring cup is relieved.

After the spring is securely compressed, unscrew the fastening nut while holding the piston rod with a spanner.

Remove the inner parts of the rack.
Assembly
Check the shock absorber before installation.
If replacing a spring, compress the new spring
Place the coil spring so that it fits correctly onto the lugs of the lower spring lining.

Place the individual parts onto the spring stand. At the same time, snap the cap into the boot.

Install the upper spring strut support and align it with the lower shock absorber bracket.
Tighten the new self-locking nut to 50 Nm while holding the piston rod with a spanner.

Slowly release the spring. The ends of the spring must fit correctly into the spring pads.
Install the rear spring strut.
