Installing the timing belt and tensioner (Hyundai Accent X3)

1. Temporarily secure the timing belt tensioner so that its pulley is located near the water pump (the pulley may touch the pump body).

2. After installing the tensioner, align the marks on the crankshaft sprocket and camshaft sprocket as shown in the figure. Rotate the crankshaft until the piston of cylinder No.1 is at the top dead center of the compression stroke.

Warning: Make sure the flange is installed in the correct direction as shown in the figure.
