Power Steering Housing — Assembly (Hyundai Accent X3)

Assembly is carried out in the reverse order of disassembly. In this case:

1. Apply special oil to the entire surface of the rack oil seal.

• Recommended Fluid - DEXRON II Automatic Transmission Fluid

2. Install the rear washer and oil seal in the special places in the steering gear housing.

3. Apply special consistent grease to the entire surface of the needle roller bearing.

• Recommended Lubricant - SAE J310, NLGI #2 General Purpose Grease

4. Apply grease to the ball bearing.

• Recommended Lubricant - SAE J310, NLGI #2 General Purpose Grease

Warning: A new bearing must be installed each time during assembly.

5. Apply working fluid to the entire surface of the rack bushing oil seal.

• Recommended Fluid - DEXRON II Automatic Transmission Fluid

6. Apply grease to the rack teeth.

• Recommended Lubricant - SAE J310, NLGI No.2 General Purpose Grease

Warning: Be careful not to let grease block the vent.
