Checking spark plugs and high-voltage wires (Hyundai Accent MC)

1. Remove the ignition coil or disconnect the high-voltage wire.

2. Using a spark plug wrench, unscrew the spark plug.

3. Check that the spark plug electrode (A) and insulator (B) are not damaged. If damaged, replace the spark plug.

4. Check the spark plug gap. If the gap exceeds the maximum allowable, replace the spark plug.

Unleaded fuel: 1.0-1.1 mm
Leaded fuel: 0.7-0.8 mm


5. Check the high-voltage wire tip for carbon deposits and damage. Measure the wire resistance with an ohmmeter. Nominal value: 5.6 kOhm ±20%. If the resistance is greater than 10 kOhm, replace the wire.
