Withdrawal
1. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
2. Loosen the alternator support nuts.
3. Loosen the alternator mounting bolt and remove the V-ribbed belt.
4. Turn out bolts of fastening of a pulley of the water pump.
Torque:
- hinge bolt (A) generator mounts: 20–25 Nm
- Bolt (IN) generator mounts: 15–22 Nm
- Bolt of fastening of an arm of the generator: 20–28 Nm
Examination
Check the following items and replace if defective.
1. Check the poly V-belt surface for damage and cracks.
2. Check the poly V-belt surface for oil and grease.
3. Check the poly V-belt surface for uneven wear.
4. Check the pulley surface for cracks or damage.
Installation
1. Install the pump pulley and secure it with bolts.
2. Install the pump pulley and secure it with bolts.
Checking and adjusting the tension
1. Check the condition of the V-ribbed belt and its location on the pulleys.
Warning! Check that the ribs of the V-ribbed belt are correctly positioned in the grooves of the pulleys.
Warning! If the V-ribbed belt makes unusual noise during operation, check the belt for wear and damage, as well as the running surfaces of the pulleys.
2. Using a special device, measure the tension of the alternator drive belt. In the absence of a special device, check the belt tension by pressing on it with a force of 100 N (10 kg) at a location equidistant from the pulleys and measure the deflection of the belt.
Generator drive belt deflection when checking tension:
- New belt: 7.5–9.0 mm/ /64–73 kg
- Used belt: 9.0–10.4 mm/ /39 kg
- Check: 5.0-6.0 mm/ 34-49 kg
Deflection of the alternator drive belt and power steering pump when checking the tension:
- New belt: 8mm
- Used belt: 6.0-7.0mm
Deflection of the alternator and air conditioner drive belt when checking the tension:
- New belt: 6.0-9.0mm
- Used belt: 9.0-10.0mm
Warning! A used belt is considered to be a belt that has worked on the engine for more than 5 minutes.
Measuring tension with a special device
1. When measuring the tension of the V-ribbed belt, the device must not touch other elements of the engine.
2. Adjust the deflection or tension of the power steering pump belt.
3. Tighten the adjusting bolt.
4. Rotate the engine crankshaft a few revolutions.
5. Check belt tension and re-adjust if necessary.
