Engine oil and oil filter
The engine oil and oil filter should be replaced at the specified intervals. When operating the vehicle under severe conditions, more frequent replacement of engine oil and oil filter is required.
Drive belts
Check all drive belts for nicks, cracks, excessive wear or oiliness and replace as necessary. Check drive belt tension periodically and adjust as necessary.
Fuel filter
A clogged fuel filter can cause the vehicle to run slower than normal, damage the emission control system, and cause the engine to start with difficulty. If there is a large amount of sediment in the fuel tank, the fuel filter may need to be replaced more frequently.
After installing the new filter, let the engine run for a few minutes and check its connections for leaks. The fuel filter must be installed by a trained mechanic.
Fuel lines and hoses and their connections
Check fuel lines and hoses and their connections for leaks and damage. Damaged or leaking parts should be replaced immediately by a qualified mechanic.
Timing belt
Check all timing drive components for damage or deformation. Replace damaged components immediately.
Fuel vapor bleed hose and fuel tank filler cap
The hose and plug should be checked at the specified intervals. Make sure that the new hose or new plug is installed correctly.
Vacuum and Crankcase Ventilation Hoses
Visually inspect the hoses for signs of exposure to high temperatures and/or mechanical damage. Signs of deterioration in the properties of the rubber include increased hardness and brittleness, cracks, tears, cuts, traces of friction and swelling. Pay particular attention to the sections of the hoses near heating parts, such as the exhaust manifold.
Make sure that the hoses do not touch hot parts, sharp edges or moving parts that could cause thermal or mechanical damage. Check the reliability and tightness of all hose connections. If the hose material properties are deteriorated or damaged, replace them immediately.
Air filter
It is recommended to replace the air filter element with a genuine Hyundai filter.
Spark plugs (petrol engines only)
Spark plugs must be replaced with plugs of the required heat rating.
Engine cooling system
Check the radiator, expansion tank, hoses and connections for leaks and damage. Replace damaged components or system parts.
Coolant
The coolant must be replaced at the specified intervals.
Oil in a manual transmission
Check the level and quality of the manual transmission oil at the specified times.
Note: Before adding oil when the oil level is below the standard, make sure there are no oil leaks. Do not add oil above the standard.
Automatic transmission oil
At normal engine and gearbox operating temperature, the oil level in the automatic transmission sump should be between the "HOT" ("Hot") marks on the dipstick. The oil level in the automatic transmission sump is checked with the engine running, the selector lever in the "N" position and the parking brake on. When adding or changing oil, use DIAMOND ATF SP-IIISK or ATFSP-III oil.
Brake lines and hoses
Check the brake fluid level in the brake hydraulic reservoir. The fluid level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the reservoir wall. Use only DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid.
Rear brake drums and shoes, parking brake
Check the drums and rear brake mechanisms for scoring, burns, fluid leaks, broken parts, excessive wear of the brake linings. Check the parking brake system, including the levers and cables.
Brake pads, calipers and brake discs
Check the brake pads for excessive wear, the brake rotors for runout and wear, and the calipers for fluid leaks.
Pipes and muffler of the exhaust system
Visually inspect the pipes, muffler and suspension parts of the exhaust system for cracks, aging and mechanical damage. Start the engine and carefully check by ear for exhaust gas leaks. If necessary, tighten the connections and replace the parts.
Suspension mounting bolts
Check the suspension threaded connections for looseness or damage. Tighten the connections to the specified torques.
Steering gear, tie rods and boots/ball joints of suspension arms
With the vehicle stationary and the engine off, check the steering free play. Check the steering rods for bending or damage. Check the ball joints and bearings and their protective boots for wear, cracks or damage. Replace any faulty parts.
Pump, pump drive belt and power steering hoses
Check the power steering pump and hoses for leaks and damage. Replace damaged or leaking parts immediately. Check the pump drive belt for cuts, cracks, excessive wear, and oiling. Check the belt tension. Replace the belt or adjust its tension if necessary.
