Engine oil and oil filter
The engine oil and oil filter should be changed at the specified intervals. Heavy-duty vehicle operation requires more frequent engine oil and oil filter changes.
Drive belts
Check all drive belts for nicks, cracks, excessive wear or oiling and replace if necessary. Periodically check the tension of the drive belts and adjust if necessary.
Fuel filter
A clogged fuel filter can cause the vehicle to travel slower than normal, damage the emission control system, and make it difficult to start the engine. If there is a lot of sediment in the fuel tank, the fuel filter may need to be replaced more frequently.
After installing a new filter, let the engine run for a few minutes and check its connections for leaks. The fuel filter must be installed by a qualified mechanic.
Fuel lines and hoses and their connections
Check fuel pipes and hoses and their connections for leaks and damage. Damaged or leaking parts must be replaced immediately by a qualified mechanic.
Timing belt
Check all parts of the timing gear for damage or deformation. Replace damaged parts immediately.
Evaporative vent hose and fuel tank filler cap
The hose and plug should be checked at the specified times. Make sure the new hose or new plug is properly installed.
Vacuum and crankcase ventilation hoses
Visually check the hoses for signs of high temperatures and/or mechanical damage. Signs of deterioration in the properties of rubber are an increase in its hardness and brittleness, cracks, tears, cuts, traces of friction and swelling. Pay special attention when doing this to hose sections near hot parts, such as the exhaust manifold.
Make sure the hoses do not come into contact with hot parts, sharp edges, or moving parts that could cause thermal or mechanical damage. Check the reliability and tightness of all hose connections. Replace hoses immediately if deterioration or damage is found.
Air filter
It is recommended to replace the air filter element with a genuine Hyundai filter.
Spark plug (only petrol engines)
Spark plugs must be replaced with spark plugs with the required glow rating.
Engine cooling system
Check the radiator, expansion tank, hoses and connections for leaks and damage. Replace damaged components or parts of the system.
Coolant
The coolant must be changed at the specified times.
Oil in a manual transmission
Check the level and quality of the manual transmission oil at the specified times.
Note. Before adding oil when the oil level drops below normal, check that there are no oil leaks. Do not add oil above the norm.
Oil in automatic transmission
At normal operating temperatures of the engine and gearbox, the oil level in the crankcase of the automatic gearbox should be between the marks «NOT» («hotter») oil dipstick. The oil level in the crankcase of the automatic transmission is checked with the engine running, position «N» selector lever and the parking brake applied. When topping up or changing oil, use DIAMOND ATF SP-IIISK or ATFSP-III grade oil.
Brake lines and hoses
Check the brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir. The fluid level must be between the marks «MIN» And «MAX» on the wall of the tank. Use only DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid.
Rear wheel drums and shoes, parking brake
Check the rear wheel drums and brake mechanisms for scuffing, burns, fluid leaks, broken parts, excessive brake lining wear. Check the parking brake system, including the drive cable levers.
Brake pads, calipers and brake discs
Check brake pads for excessive wear, brake discs for runout and wear, and calipers for fluid leaks.
Exhaust pipes and muffler
Visually check the pipes, muffler and suspension parts of the exhaust system for cracks, aging and mechanical damage. Start the engine and carefully check by ear for exhaust gas leaks. Tighten connections and replace parts if necessary.
Suspension mounting bolts
Check suspension screw connections for looseness or damage. Tighten the connections to the specified torques.
Steering Gear, Tie Rods, and Boot/Ball Joints
With the vehicle stationary and engine off, check steering free play. Check the tie rods for bending or damage. Check the ball joints and bearings and their protective covers for wear, cracks or damage. Replace defective parts.
Pump, pump drive belt and power steering hoses
Check the power steering pump and hoses for leaks or damage. Replace damaged or leaking parts immediately. Check the pump drive belt for cuts, cracks, excessive wear, oiling. Check belt tension. If necessary, replace the belt or adjust its tension.
