Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (Hyundai Elantra XD)

The MIL indicator lamp comes on when there are malfunctions in the engine management system and automatic transmission. However, the MIL will not illuminate after three engine starts if the previously detected fault no longer occurs. After turning on the ignition (before starting the engine) the indicator light stays on, indicating that the fault diagnostic system is operating normally.

The control lamp lights up when faults occur in the following system elements:

• transmission fluid temperature sensor
• pulse generator A (PG–A);
• pulse generator B (PG-B);
• switching solenoid valve A (SCSV–A);
• switching solenoid valve B (SCSV–B);
• switching solenoid valve C (SCSV–C);
• pressure Control Solenoid Valve A (PCSV–A);
• pressure Control Solenoid Valve B (PCSV-B);
• damper clutch solenoid valve (DCCSV);
• switching synchronization;
• ignition pulses;
• throttle position sensor;
• on the gearbox operating mode switch;
• damage to the torque converter line.
