Replacing fuses
In the event of an overload of electrical circuits fed directly from the battery, the fuse melts, thereby preventing damage to all electrical wiring. (This can happen with a sharp increase in current in the event of a short circuit.) If the fuse blows, contact your Hyundai dealer to find out the cause, repair the on-board network and replace the fuse. The fuses are located in the relay box for easy checking.
Caution: Replace a blown fuse only with a fuse rated for the same or less current. Replace fuse «bug» or a fuse with a higher current strength is prohibited, because this can cause serious damage and fire on the wires.
Replacing Auxiliary Circuit Fuses
The fuse box for lighting circuits and other auxiliary equipment is located at the bottom of the dashboard on the driver's side. Inside the unit there is a list of fuses and protected circuits. The reason for the failure of any lighting device or other auxiliary equipment may be a blown fuse. A blown fuse is identified by a broken metal strip inside it. If you suspect a blown fuse, do the following:
1. Turn off the ignition and turn off all other electrical consumers.
2. Open the cover of the fuse box and check all the fuses one by one by removing them using the small fuse puller located in the box.
3. Having found a possibly blown fuse, be sure to check the other fuses.
4. Instead of a blown fuse, insert a new one with the same current value by pressing on it. The fuse must sit tightly in the socket. If the seat is loose, have your Hyundai dealer repair or replace the fuse holder. In the absence of a spare fuse, it is possible to temporarily use a fuse with the same or less current value by removing it from the circuit of any auxiliary equipment that can be dispensed with at the moment (e.g. fuse for audio system or cigarette lighter). Don't forget to replace the temporarily borrowed fuse afterwards.
Caution: A blown fuse is a sign of a problem with the circuit. If a fuse blows again after being replaced when power is applied to the affected circuit, this indicates a serious fault that requires a Hyundai dealer to investigate and repair. Never replace a blown fuse with anything other than a fuse of the same amperage or less. A high current fuse can cause damage and a fire hazard.
