If you need to tow over long distances, you will need to raise the front of the vehicle. Reason: When the engine is off, the gearbox oil pump does not work, so over long distances and periods of time, sufficient lubrication is not provided.
Using a towing vehicle
Please note: Front wheel drive vehicles may only be towed on the rear wheels. Reason: When the rear wheels are raised, the front wheels rotating in the opposite direction force the planetary gears of the automatic transmission to rotate extremely quickly in the opposite direction, which can cause severe damage to the transmission in a short time.
Turn on the ignition so that the steering wheel does not lock and you can turn on the hazard warning lights, direction indicators, horn and, if necessary, the windshield wiper.
Since the hydraulic brake and steering boosters only work when the engine is running, when the engine is not running, the force applied to the brake pedal and steering wheel must be greater!
The towing rope must be flexible enough to avoid damaging the towing or towed vehicle. Use only ropes made of artificial fibre or with elastic intermediate elements.
