Starter fault diagnostics (Hyundai Elantra J1)

If the starter fails, you must first check for voltage at terminal 50 of the traction relay. It should be at least 8 V. If the voltage is less than 8 V, you should check the starter circuit wires according to the electrical diagram. The starter operation at full battery voltage can be checked in the following order:

Set the gearbox to neutral position, turn on the ignition.

Auxiliary wire (cross-section of at least 4 mm²) jumper terminals 30 and 50 of the starter.

If the starter works properly, then the problem lies in the wiring. If the starter does not work, it must be removed and checked.

When checking the connection, the wires must be well secured and not oxidized.
