Installing a key lock device (Hyundai Elantra XD)

It is expected that the ignition key cannot be removed from the lock cylinder until the lock cable is disconnected from the lock. To avoid these problems during repair and maintenance, follow these recommendations.

1. Assembling the lock cable and ignition switch

• The ignition switch is mounted on the steering column. Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" position.
• Use a screw to connect the lock cable and the ignition switch.

2. Assembling the lock cable and gear shift lever

• a. Set the selector lever to the "P" position.

• b. After installing the lock cable as shown in the figure, loosen the M8 nut of the lock cable plate so that the plate can be turned after applying a certain force.
• c. Turn the plate with the cable secured in the "F" direction to remove the slack in the cable at point "B". When removing the slack, do not pull the cable in the "X" direction, as this may prevent the key from coming out of the ignition lock cylinder.
• d. Tighten the M8 lock cable mounting nut.
