Checking the starting torque of the ball joints in the steering rod ends (Hyundai Elantra J2)

1. Install two nuts onto the ball joint in the tie rod end.

Starting torque of the ball joint in the tie rod end (standard value) — 0.5-2.5 Nm

2. If the starting torque exceeds the standard value, replace the tie rod end.

Note: Even if the starting torque value is below the lower limit standard value, the ball joint can be reused as long as it does not stick or have excessive clearance.
