Is the clutch slipping?
- Apply the parking brake and start the engine.
- Shift into third gear, slowly engage the clutch and give it some gas. If the parking brake is working properly, the engine should stall.
- If it works, then you need to check the free play of the clutch pedal and, if necessary, adjust it.
- Please retry the check. If the engine can still run, then more serious repairs are needed.
Is the clutch disengaging properly?
If the gearbox shifts with difficulty when the engine is warm, or the shifting process is accompanied by a crackling and rattling noise, then the clutch is probably not disengaging correctly. Much less often, this effect is caused by a gearbox malfunction. To make sure of this, you need to check with the reverse gear.
- Allow the engine to idle.
- Fully depress the clutch pedal, wait about 3 seconds, then try to engage reverse gear.
- If the engine makes a crackling noise, the clutch is not fully disengaged - the driven disk does not rotate freely.
- Check and bleed air from the hydraulic drive if necessary.
- Please check again. If the crackling noise still occurs, see the section "Diagnosing Clutch Faults".
