Late models of the car
If the conditions described below are not met, adjust the transmission mode lock cable.
If the brake pedal is fully depressed and the ignition key is in the ACC position, the selector lever cannot be moved from position P to any other position unless the button on the selector lever is pressed.
If the brake pedal is fully depressed and the ignition key is in the ACC position, the selector lever cannot be moved from position P to any other position if the button on the selector lever is pressed.
If the brake pedal is released and the ignition key is in the ACC position, the selector lever can be easily moved from position R to position P if the button on the automatic transmission selector lever is pressed.
Adjusting the shift lock cable
Remove the front floor console and pre-install the selector lever handle.
Move the selector lever to position P.
Turn the ignition key to the LOCK (OFF) position.
Loosen the lock nut of the shift lock cable.
Tighten the lock nut (3) until the end of the shift lock cable (2) protrudes above the red mark on the cam (1).

Having installed the floor console.
After adjustment, check the operation of the mode switching locking mechanism again.
