If the pitting corrosion is severe, the seats can be reground to fit new valves. If the saddles are very badly damaged, the saddle inserts will need to be treated or replaced. However, valves are damaged much more often than seats. Therefore, they usually take a new set of valves and regrind them to fit the seats.
