Pressure reducing valve — removal and installation (Hyundai Elantra J1)

The valve serves to maintain constant oil pressure. It is built into the oil pump.

If the oil pressure warning light is on or flashing, this indicates insufficient oil pressure in the system. Remove and check the valve.

Unscrew the plug (1).

Remove the spring (2) and piston (3).

Remove the spring (2) and piston (3).


Check the free movement of the piston, clean if necessary, replace the piston. There should be signs of wear on the pistons.

Insert the piston and spring, place a new aluminum or copper sealing ring under the plug and tighten.

2.0 liter engine:
