(for vehicles equipped with engines with a single camshaft - SOHC)
Warning:
- 1) Before proceeding with this adjustment, the cylinder head bolts must be tightened.
- 2) If the clearance of the jet valve is not satisfactory, not only will the composition of the exhaust gases be affected, but it may also cause engine malfunctions. Therefore, it is important to accurately perform the adjustment as described below.
1. Turn on the engine and let it warm up until the coolant temperature reaches 80-95°C
2. Check the ignition timing and idle speed, adjusting if necessary.
3. Remove valve cover.
4. Remove the front top cover of the camshaft timing belt.
5. Turn the crankshaft clockwise and align the mark on the camshaft sprocket.
6. Verify that the valve clearance shown in the diagram is the standard value.
7. If the valve clearance is standard, loosen the rocker arm adjusting screw lock nut. Using a feeler gauge, adjust the valve clearance by turning the adjusting screw.
8. Without turning the rocker arm adjusting screw with a screwdriver, tighten the lock nut.
9. Turn the crankshaft clockwise one turn (360°).
10. Verify that the valve clearance shown in the diagram is the standard value.
11. Repeat steps 8 and 9 to adjust the rest of the valves.
12. Apply a layer of sealant to the places of the semicircular seal, indicated by arrows in the figure.
13. Replace the camshaft timing belt front top cover.
14. Replace the valve cover.
15. Install the air hose and air tube.
