Removal

1. Loosen the water pump pulley mounting bolts.

2. Loosen the generator support nuts.

3. Loosen the generator mounting bolt and remove the poly V-belt.

3. Loosen the generator mounting bolt and remove the poly V-belt.

4. Remove the water pump pulley mounting bolts.

Tightening torque:
  • Generator mounting pivot bolt (A): 20–25 N·m
  • Generator mounting bolt (B): 15–22 N·m
  • Generator bracket mounting bolt: 20–28 N·m

Examination

Check the following items and replace them if any are defective.

1. Check the surface of the poly V-belt for damage and cracks.

2. Check the surface of the poly V-belt for oil and grease.

3. Check the surface of the poly V-belt for uneven wear.

3. Check the surface of the poly V-belt for uneven wear.

4. Check the pulley surface for cracks or damage.

Installation

1. Install the pump pulley and secure it with bolts.

2. After installing the poly V-belt, adjust its tension.

Installation

Installation

1. Check the condition of the poly V-belt and its position on the pulleys.

Warning! Check that the ribs of the poly V-belt are correctly positioned in the grooves of the pulleys.

Warning! If the poly V-belt makes any extraneous noise during operation, check the belt for wear and damage, as well as the working surfaces of the pulleys.

2. Use a special device to measure the tension of the alternator drive belt. If you do not have a special device, check the belt tension by pressing it with a force of 100 N (10 kg) in a place located at the same distance from the pulleys and measure the belt deflection.

Generator drive belt tension:
  • New belt: 65-75 kg
  • Used belt: 40 kg
  • Check: 35–50 kg

Tensioning the alternator and power steering pump drive belt:
  • New belt: 55-70 kg
  • Used belt: 38-48 kg

Generator and air conditioner drive belt tension:
  • New belt: 60-70 kg
  • Used belt: 32-40 kg
  • Check: 25–50 kg

A used belt is one that has been in operation on the engine for more than 5 minutes.

Measuring tension with a special device type A

Measuring tension with a special device type A

When measuring the tension of the poly V-belt, the device should not touch other engine elements.

Measuring tension with a special device type B

1. When measuring, be sure to turn the reset button in the direction of the arrow to reset the meter arrow to its original position.

2. After removing the gauge from the belt, the gauge arrow will still indicate the belt tension.

Warning! It is not recommended to adjust the belt tension by hand, as this adjustment will not provide sufficient accuracy and the belt may slip on the pulleys. Always use a special device.

Warning: Check that the belt tension is within the specified values.

Warning: Check the belt tension after tightening the pivot bolt and generator mounting bolt.
