Replacement
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery and wait 30 seconds.
2. Set the front wheels to the straight ahead position.
3. Remove the module (A) driver airbags.
4. Disconnect the connector (IN) and unscrew the locknut (A), then remove the steering wheel from the steering shaft.
Attention. Do not tap the steering wheel with a hammer to remove it. This may damage the steering column.
5. Remove the top (A) and bottom (IN) steering column covers.
6. Remove contact disc (A).
7. Remove the multifunction switches (A).
8. Remove the lower part of the dashboard.
9. Turn away bolts and nuts and remove the panel (A).
10. Loosen the nut and remove the dust cover (A).
11. Remove the bolt (A), then disconnect the universal joint from the steering gear.
Note: Tightening torque: 29.4 - 34.3 Nm.
Attention. The switch lever must be in the neutral position to prevent damage to the internal contact dial cable when the steering wheel is removed.
12. Disconnect all sockets of a steering column.
13. Turn away bolts (A) and nuts (IN) and remove the steering column.
Note: Tightening torque: 12.7-17.7 Nm.
14. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
Disassembly
Universal connection
1. Remove the bolt (A) and disconnect the universal joint from the steering column.
2. Assembly is carried out in the reverse order of disassembly.
Checking the technical condition
1. Check the steering column for deformation and damage.
2. Check the coupling bearing for wear and damage.
3. Inspect the tilt bracket for cracks or other damage.
4. Check the correct operation of the ignition switch. Replace if necessary.
