1. Work on the airbag may be started no less than 3 minutes after the ignition key is set to the LOCK position and the wire from the negative terminal ("-") of the storage battery is disconnected. The airbag has a backup power supply system that ensures its activation if the battery wire is disconnected during an impact. The backup power supply is supplied for approximately 150 ms.
2. When disconnecting the wire from the negative ("-") terminal of the battery, the contents of the clock and audio system memory are deleted. Therefore, before starting work, it is necessary to write down the data stored in the audio system memory. After completing the work, you should re-enter this data and set the time on the clock.
3. Since the symptoms of a malfunctioning airbag system are difficult to detect, the main source of information when troubleshooting are diagnostic codes.
4. When troubleshooting the airbag system, always check the diagnostic codes before disconnecting the battery.
5. It is prohibited to use airbag parts taken from another car. Replace parts only with new ones.
6. Do not attempt to disassemble and repair the airbag modules (PB8, PBP, BPB, PRB), contact disk and wiring for the purpose of their further use.
7. If any of the airbag system elements falls or if cracks, dents or other defects appear on the module body, bracket or wire connector, replace them with new ones.
8. After finishing work on the airbag system, turn on the ignition and make sure that the airbag malfunction indicator lamp goes out after a set period of time. In some cases, the control lamp may be lit by a malfunction of other systems. Therefore, if the indicator lamp lights up, immediately after troubleshooting or replacing faulty parts, including the fuse, delete diagnostic codes using the Hi-Scan device.
9. When performing welding bodywork, be sure to disconnect the wire from the negative terminal ("-") of the battery.
