In the engine compartment
It is necessary to check regularly:
- Engine oil level and quality
- Level and quality of oil in the automatic transmission crankcase
- Fluid level in the brake hydraulic reservoir
- Clutch fluid reservoir level
- Coolant level
- Windshield washer fluid level
- Attachment drive belt
- Condition of engine cooling system hoses
- No liquid leaks (on or under parts)
- Power steering pump fluid level
- Battery status
Outside the car
It is necessary to check at least once a month:
- General appearance and condition of the car
- Condition of wheels and tightening of wheel nuts
- Exhaust system
- Condition and operation of lighting devices
- Windshield condition
- Condition of windshield wipers
- Condition of paintwork and presence of traces of body corrosion
- No liquid leaks
- Door and hood locks
- Condition of tires and air pressure in them (including spare tire)
Inside the car
Before each trip, it is necessary to check:
- Operation of lighting devices
- Windshield wiper operation
- Operation of the sound signal
- Operation of the windshield blowing system and heater (and air conditioner, depending on the configuration)
- Operation and condition of the steering system
- Condition and operation of exterior mirrors
- Operation of direction indicators
- Accelerator pedal operation
- Operation of the braking system, including the parking brake
- Operation of the manual gearbox and clutch
- Operation of the automatic transmission, including the transmission brake
- Condition and operation of seat adjustment mechanisms
- Condition and serviceability of seat belts
- Serviceability of sun visors
