Washing
Do not wash your car when it is hot in the sun. Wash your car in the shade.
Wash your car more often. Dirt is abrasive and will cause scratches if not removed. Air pollutants or acid rain left on your vehicle will cause chemical damage to the paint. When operating your vehicle near the sea or in areas where road salt or dust suppression chemicals are used, pay special attention to the underbody and underside of the vehicle. At the beginning of the wash, remove dust and loose dirt from the body with a stream of water. In winter or after driving through mud or dirty water, thoroughly wash the underside and underbody of the vehicle as well. Remove any adhering dirt or corrosive substances with a strong stream of water. Use quality car wash products, following the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. Such products can be purchased from a Hyundai dealer or auto parts stores. Do not use strong household detergents, gasoline, strong solvents or abrasive cleaning powders, which may damage the polish.
Wash your car with a clean sponge or cloth and rinse it as often as possible, do not rub the polish too hard so as not to damage it. For difficult to remove dirt, wet it more often and remove it in small sections.
Wash tires with white sidewalls with a stiff brush or wire sponge and soap.
Wash plastic wheel caps with a clean sponge or cloth.
To wash light alloy wheel rims, use mild soap or neutral detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents. Protect metal surfaces by washing, polishing and applying pastes. In winter, pay special attention to light alloy wheels, which are also subject to corrosion. After driving on salted roads, rinse your wheels thoroughly.
After washing your car, rinse it thoroughly with a stream of water. Unrinsed soapy water leaves streaks when it dries.
In warm weather and low humidity, it is best to immediately rinse off the soapy water from each washed area. After rinsing the car, wipe it dry with a damp chamois or soft, absorbent cloth. This is done to remove any remaining water that will leave stains when dried. Do not rub hard to avoid damaging the polish.
If there are any chips or scratches in the paint, fill them with a finishing paint to protect against corrosion. To protect the paintwork from corrosion, you should wash your Hyundai at least once a month. Be especially careful to remove salt, dirt and other substances from under the fenders. Make sure that the door drainage holes do not become clogged. Remove tar stains, industrial emissions, tree resin, insects and bird droppings immediately as they will cause damage to the paint. If the clean dirt does not wash off, use a solution of mild car shampoos, and then be sure to wash off the remaining solution. Do not allow shampoos to dry on the paintwork.
Stain removal
Do not use gasoline, strong solvents or abrasive cleaners to remove stains. They can damage the body polish. Remove tar stains carefully with a clean, soft cloth dampened with turpentine.
Remove insect stains and pine resin with warm water and mild soap or a car shampoo solution. Wet the stain and gently wipe it away. If the paint has lost its shine, restore it with an automotive polish.
Polishing and application of wax pastes
Before polishing or applying wax paste or a combination cleaning agent with paste, be sure to wash and dry the body. Use only high-quality, commercially available products, following the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. Polishing and waxing should be carried out both on shiny finishing parts and on paintwork.
When to apply wax paste
Polishing and application of pastes should be repeated when water stops collecting in drops on the clean surface and spreads over it in a continuous layer.
Caring for bumpers
To keep your bumpers looking good, take the following precautions:
- Avoid contact of battery electrolyte and brake fluid with the bumpers. If this happens, wash them off immediately with clean water.
- Wipe bumpers with care. They are made of soft plastic and if handled incorrectly, their surface can be damaged. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents. Wash bumpers with warm water and mild soap or car shampoo solution.
- Do not expose bumpers to high temperatures. Remove bumpers before placing the body in a hot drying chamber after painting.
