Removal



1. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor (cars with ABS).

Warning. When removing the wheel speed sensor from the adapter, be careful not to scratch the pole piece against the rotor teeth or other parts.


2. Remove the brake caliper and hang it on the wire.

3. Remove the brake disc.

4. Remove the cap, wheel bearing nut and tongue washer.

5. Remove the hub assembly.

Warning:
  • 1. The rear hub bearing must not be disassembled.
  • 2. For vehicles with ABS, care must be taken to avoid scratching or otherwise damaging the rotor teeth. If the rotor teeth are distorted, causing the rotor to become deformed, the wheel speed cannot be accurately determined and the ABS system will not function properly.





Examination



1. Check the oil seal for damage or cracks.

2. Check the rear hub bearing for wear and damage.

3. Check that the rear rotor teeth are not chipped.

Installation



1. After tightening the wheel bearing nut, press the nut against the concave portion of the spindle.

Install the thickness gauge into the space between the pole piece of the sensor and the toothed surface of the rotor, and then tighten the sensor to the position where the gap in all places corresponds to the standard value.

Standard value is 0.2-1.3 mm

3. Install the hub cap.
