Rear suspension — removal and inspection (Hyundai Elantra J2)

Removal

1. Remove the upper strut mounting nuts.

2. Raise the vehicle on a lift and install safety supports.

3. Remove the wheels.

4. Remove the brake caliper and hang it on the wire.

5. Remove the brake disc.

Note: It is not necessary to disconnect the brake hoses from the brake caliper. Be careful not to press the brake pedal, as the piston will be pushed out by the fluid.

6. To remove the rear suspension assembly, loosen the parking brake cable mounting nut and then remove the trailing arm mounting bolts.

7. Remove the stabilizer arm mounting nut.

8. Disconnect the ABS wheel speed sensor.





9. Before removing the cross member mounting bolts, support the cross member with a lift.

10. Remove the cross member mounting bolts.

11. Remove the rear suspension assembly.

Examination

Check the rear suspension for cracks or any other signs of damage.
