Note
1) If the battery voltage is low, diagnostic trouble codes cannot be read. Check battery voltage and condition before testing.
2) Diagnostic codes are cleared if the battery terminals or the ECM connector are disconnected. Do not disconnect the battery until the diagnostic trouble codes have been fully read.
Check operations (when using the HI-SCAN device)
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Connect the HI-SCAN connector to the data connector located in the fuse box.
3. Turn the ignition key to position "ON" and press the key "ON" on the HI-SCAN instrument.
4. A fault code will be displayed on the HI-SCAN display as shown in the figure.

1. F (existing fault): A malfunction has been detected in the respective test objects at the moment.
M (stored fault): The corresponding test items were found to be faulty earlier, but are now healthy.
R, M (existing stored fault): The corresponding test items currently have a fault and were also faulty before.
