Rear Drive Shafts — Disassembly (Hyundai Tucson LM)

Attention.

Do not disassemble the constant velocity joint.

The drive shaft joint must be coated with a special lubricant. It must not be replaced with another type of lubricant.

The boot clamp must be replaced with a new one.


1. Remove the clamps from the tripod joint boot and pull the boot off the outer race of the joint.

Caution: Be careful not to damage the boot.


2. Remove the drive shaft from the outer race of the tripod joint.

3. Remove the snap ring (A), then remove the inner ring (B), housing (C) and balls (D) as one unit.

4. Remove contamination from the inner race, housing and balls without disassembling the unit.

5. Remove the clamps of the Birfield joint boot and remove the boots of the tripod and Birfield joints.
