Removal and installation
1. Follow steps 1-8 of section «Removal and installation of front power shafts» of this chapter.
2. Turn away bolts of fastening of the shock-absorber and remove a nave and a knuckle in gathering (A).
Note: Tightening torque: 137.2 - 156.9 Nm.
Attention. Be careful not to damage the boot and rotor teeth.
3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Checking the technical condition
1. Check hub for cracks and splines for wear.
2. Check the brake disc for nicks and damage.
3. Inspect the knuckle for cracks
4. Check the bearing for cracks or damage.
Disassembly
1. Using special pliers, remove the retaining ring (A).
2. Remove the hub assembly from the steering knuckle.
(1) Install the steering knuckle assembly to the press.
(2) Put in a suitable mandrel
(IN) on the hub shaft.
3. Remove the dust cover (A).
4. Remove from a nave an internal ring of the bearing of a nave.
(1) Install a suitable tool on the hub assembly (A) to remove the wheel bearing inner race.
(2) Install hub and fixture (A) on a suitable frame (IN).
(3) Put in a suitable mandrel
(WITH) on the hub shaft.
(4) Remove the inner ring from the hub (D) wheel bearing using a press.
5. Remove from a rotary fist an external ring of the bearing of a nave.
(1) Put the hub (A) on a suitable frame (IN).
(2) Put in a suitable mandrel (WITH) on the outer race of the wheel bearing.
(3) Remove the wheel bearing outer race from the steering knuckle using a press.
6. Replace the hub bearing.
Assembly
1. Install the dust cover (A).
2. Install the hub bearing on the steering knuckle.
(1) Install the steering knuckle (A) on the press.
(2) Install a new wheel bearing onto the steering knuckle.
(3) Put in a suitable mandrel
(IN) on the wheel bearing.
(4) Install the hub bearing to the steering knuckle using a press.
Attention.
Do not press on the inner ring of the hub bearing as this may damage the bearing.
Always use a new wheel bearing.
3. Establish a nave in gathering on a rotary fist.
(1) Put the hub (A) on a suitable frame (IN).
(2) Place the steering knuckle (WITH) on the hub (A).
(3) Put in a suitable mandrel
(D) on the wheel bearing.
(4) Install hub (A) on the swivel (WITH) using the press.
Attention. Do not apply pressure to the inner ring of the hub bearing as this may damage the bearing.
4. Install retaining ring (A).
